My (Tmob) HD2 works fine on Wifi and ActiveSync. If it also happening there, I have no clue why that happens.
If you are online of the Phones Data Network, a port issue it cannot be due to the search is a normal HTTP Request.

I would like to hear if you are on a data network or wifi or active sync. You may try active sync and the grooveshark(tm) website

Internet works just fine. Browsing and all other programs bounded by my internet connection through VodafoneNL seem to have no problem at all.

Please try it over ActiveSync or Wifi, if it works than, it is a problem due to your provider that may blocks some ports or needs a special proxy. There cannot be any other problem as you internet connection isn't that easy(like wifi/active sync).

The Dell Axim X30 seems to be WM2003. Have you tried the PPC2003 Version?

i have the same problem with hd2 and dutch vodafone.
i've had an n95 before my hd2 and i remember having the same issues with the lastfm client back then.
that was an issue with the vodafone proxy that just cut of the stream when it didnt like it.
i had different data connection set up for that back then... i had the normal "vodafone live" for browsing etc. and the "vodafone streaming" for streaming apps..
on the n95 it asked me which connection to use with every program i started.
i just cant find these settings in my hd2 (kinda new to the windows mobile thing ;) ) the connection is setup automatically.
but i think it might be related...
